What could be more expensive than human health? A body filled with vitality allows a person to achieve more, feel the beauty of the world around him, enjoy every moment, fill his life with happiness. One of the options to gain faith in one's strengths and health is spa treatment and rehabilitation, the accessibility of which is an important aspect of the social policy of our state.

By the total number of inhabitants, the Brest region takes the fourth place after the city of Minsk, Minsk and Gomel regions, and by the number of minor children the region takes the second place in size, giving way to the city of Minsk.

In order to reach the fullest coverage of the preferential categories of citizens in need of spa treatment defined by the Decree of the President of the Republic of Belarus dated August 28, 2006 No. 542 "On Sanatorium Treatment and Health Improvement of the Population", thorough organizational work is being carried out in the Brest region. In cities and regions, the need for sanatorium-resort treatment is studied, disaggregated by disease profiles and the demand for preferential vouchers.

So, according to the results of 9 months of 2019, 95.5 thousand of the population of the region received sanatorium-resort treatment and rehabilitation at the expense of state sources of financing (for the same period in 2018 - 94.1 thousand). For these purposes, 22.3 million rubles of public funds were spent.

As of October 1, 2019, about 2.5 thousand non-working pensioners received spa treatment.

The priority remains preferential rehabilitation and spa treatment of children. According to the results of 9 months of this year, 87.7 thousand children were able to improve their health in sanatoriums and health camps of all types.

Annually, about 80 percent of the total amount of funds allocated by the state goes to the implementation of benefits for sanatorium-resort treatment and rehabilitation of children. The need for children's health is fully provided in the region.

Under the special control of the state, children living and studying in the territories of the republic contaminated with radionuclides, as well as children with disabilities. The analysis shows that according to the results of 9 months of 2019, the volumes of sanatorium-resort treatment and rehabilitation at the expense of state funds of these categories of children are increased compared to 2018. So, for 9 months of 2019, 8838 children who suffered from the Chernobyl disaster (in 2018 - 8441 people), as well as 494 disabled children (in 2018 - 400 people) received rehabilitation and sanatorium-resort treatment.

In the region, special attention is paid to organizing a summer health campaign. All indicators brought by the region for various types of health camps have been completed.

In the summer of 2019, 64.2 thousand children aged 6 to 18 years old were sanitized in all types of camps, which amounted to 101.9% of the plan and 101.8% of the number of those sanitized last year.

And in conclusion, I would like to note that in the future, in the Brest region, special attention will be paid to the organization of sanatorium-resort treatment and rehabilitation of the population, which will allow targeted and effective prevention of diseases and rehabilitation treatment for citizens in need.
