About rehabilitation after COVID-19 in the sanatoriums of the Brest region

Health is an invaluable asset not only of every person, but of the whole society. Health is the main condition and guarantee of a full life and every citizen should take care of it. The COVID-19 pandemic is a serious global problem.

In the national system of public health protection, a significant role is assigned to sanatorium and resort treatment. State regulation of the organization of sanatorium-resort treatment and health improvement of the population, the purchase of vouchers at the expense of public funds made it possible to preserve this important social sphere and create a developed infrastructure in health resorts.

It should be noted that on behalf of the Head of State, the Republican Center for Health Improvement and Sanatorium-Resort Treatment of the Population, the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection made a joint decision on extraordinary sanatorium-and-spa treatment for labor veterans and disabled persons of groups I and II who have suffered pneumonia associated with COVID-19, in the sanatoriums of the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection (Belaya Vezha, Yaselda, Vyazhuti, Berezina). A month after recovery, people with disabilities of groups I and II will be able to recover free of charge, and labor veterans will pay only 10-15 percent of the full cost of the voucher.

For working citizens, the commissions for health improvement and sanatorium-resort treatment of the population, created in organizations, are recommended to employees and their children who have suffered pneumonia associated with COVID-19 infection, to issue vouchers for sanatorium-resort treatment purchased at the expense of public funds as a matter of priority .

There are 13 sanatorium-resort organizations in the Brest region, most of which are located in a forest with clean fresh air, which is so important for rehabilitation after the coronavirus.

Each health resort has developed an up-to-date treatment program - rehabilitation of patients who have suffered pneumonia associated with COVID-19 infection, which includes a set of procedures that best strengthen and restore the body's protective functions. For example, oxygen barotherapy, ozone therapy, speleotherapy will saturate the lungs with oxygen, various types of massage and breathing exercises, dry carbon dioxide baths, various herbal teas and oxygen cocktails will improve overall well-being. Under the supervision of doctors, a complex of physiotherapeutic procedures is carried out: magnetotherapy, phototherapy, laser therapy. A set of procedures will be selected for each individually for health reasons.

In January 2021, another 79 unemployed citizens used the right to recovery after suffering pneumonia associated with coronavirus infection, including 56% in sanatoriums of the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection. Currently, in the region, about 80 people are on the queue to receive a ticket after suffering a coronavirus infection, and all of them are offered vouchers for the coming arrivals.
