On the health improvement of children of the Gomel region living in the territory of radioactive contamination in the summer of 2021

One of the main tasks of the Gomel region is to provide sanatorium treatment and health improvement for children living or studying in areas contaminated with radionuclides. Due to the socially oriented policy of the state, minor children living or studying in the territory of radioactive contamination in the zone of subsequent resettlement, in the zone with the right to resettlement and in the zone of residence with periodic radiation control have the right to free sanatorium treatment or health improvement for a period of up to one month.

The republican center for health improvement and sanatorium-resort treatment of the population annually acquires vouchers for this category of children to sanatorium-resort and health-improving organizations of the Republic of Belarus within the funds of the republican budget provided for overcoming the consequences of the disaster at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant.

The priority direction, including in the summer period, is the organization of sanatorium-resort treatment and health improvement of children in organized groups accompanied by pedagogical workers. In the summer of 2021, 11,730 children will be provided with sanatorium-resort treatment (if there are indications for sanatorium-resort treatment) and health improvement as part of organized groups in sanatorium-resort organizations of the Republic of Belarus, of which 5,630 are children in health resorts in the Gomel region.

In connection with the resumption of railway communication between the Republic of Belarus and the Russian Federation in July - August of this year, 232 children will go as part of organized groups for sanatorium-resort treatment in the southern direction to the Belaya Rus health center, Tuapse region, Krasnodar Territory.

Also, annually for the summer period for children of the Gomel region, affected by the disaster at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant, in addition to vouchers to sanatoriums, at the expense of the republican budget, vouchers to children's health camps are purchased. For the summer of 2021, 2,500 vouchers have been purchased.

Each sanatorium-resort or health-improving organization has everything necessary to ensure effective spa treatment, health improvement and good rest for children. Due to the geographical location, a wide range of natural healing factors, the medical base of sanatorium-resort organizations, each child undergoes the necessary course of sanatorium-resort treatment or health improvement during the period of stay, according to a medical certificate of health.
