On sanatorium-resort treatment and rehabilitation of children of the Gomel region living in the territory of radioactive contamination in the first half of 2019
17-August-2019One of the priorities of the Gomel representative office is the organization of sanatorium-resort treatment and rehabilitation of children living or studying in territories contaminated with radionuclides.
For the first half of 2019, 31.2 thousand children of the Gomel region were sent to sanatorium-resort treatment and rehabilitation as part of organized groups. In addition, 1.1 thousand children were sent to sanatoriums for parents with children accompanied by one of the parents, of which 1.0 thousand children aged 3 to 6 years.
Every year for the summer period for children of the Gomel region who suffered from the disaster at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant, in addition to trips to sanatorium-resort organizations, tickets to children's health camps are purchased at the expense of the republican budget. In 2019, 2.7 thousand vouchers were purchased. In the first half of the year, more than 970 children have already rested on the indicated vouchers.
In total, in the first half of this year, as part of the State program to overcome the disaster at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant, 33.2 thousand children received sanatorium-resort treatment and rehabilitation, including 119 disabled children.

Also, minor children of the Gomel region travel for sanatorium-resort treatment using packages purchased at the expense of the state extra-budgetary fund for social protection of the population. So, in the children's sanatoriums and sanatoriums (departments) for parents with children received sanatorium-resort treatment of 1,5 thousand children, of which 298 children living in the territory of radioactive contamination and 8 disabled children.
At the expense of the republican budget for vouchers purchased for children with disabilities, 238 children received spa treatment.
In total for the first half of this year 365 disabled children were provided with vouchers for sanatorium-resort treatment.
Sanatorium-resort treatment and rehabilitation of children is carried out in health resorts located in picturesque places, in ecologically clean zones, using modern methods of treatment and diagnosis. Due to the presence of high-quality nutrition, a modern medical base, and the use of a wide range of natural healing factors, each child during the stay has the opportunity to undergo the necessary course of sanatorium-resort treatment or rehabilitation, according to a medical certificate about his health.
