The organization of sanatorium-and-spa treatment and rehabilitation of the population affected by the disaster at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant became the topic of the round table of the working group on the development of medical and health tourism of the Interdepartmental Council for Tourism under the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Belarus, which was held on March 28, 2023 on the basis of the communal unitary enterprise " Children's rehabilitation and health center "Sidelniki".

“For the first time, the event is held on the basis of a children's institution, because health improvement services are in demand not only among adults, but also among children. Basically, children living in the territories affected by the disaster at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant improve their health in this center. At the same time, most of the child population of the country has benefits for treatment and rehabilitation. It is important to develop the segment of the so-called free sale for the children's population together with their parents," said Henadzi Balbatouski, Director of the Republican Center for Health Improvement and Sanatorium-Resort Treatment of the Population, talking to media representatives.

The participants of the round table got acquainted with the material and technical base of the children's center, discussed the organization of sanatorium treatment and rehabilitation of the population affected by the Chernobyl disaster, organizations of the Gomel region and their ability to provide services to foreign citizens.

Henadzi Balbatouski noted: “great prospects for foreigners, in particular for the Russian market, especially in the summer. We are waiting for organized groups of our eastern neighbors. According to preliminary applications, we see that institutions are in demand. But you can't stop there. We see a steady demand for these types of services. In addition, the health-improving potential of our country is far from being 100% utilized.”
