Results of the summer health campaign 2023 in the Gomel region

In the Gomel region, in the summer of 2023, 123 round-the-clock camps were organized, including 8 stationary, 13 on a rented base, and 102 nine-day camps. In addition, 926 day camps for children. The camps operated in 3-4 shifts.

43,277 children were provided with vouchers for health improvement in summer camps, which amounted to 102.8% of the plan, including 11,557 children in 24-hour camps; in day camps - 31,720 children.

The opening of the shifts took place with the holding of ceremonial events, raising the National Flag and the performance of the National Anthem of the Republic of Belarus.

The Main Department of Education of the Gomel Regional Executive Committee, together with the Commission on Minors of the Gomel Regional Executive Committee, as well as with other interested services for organizing summer recreation, prepared, approved and implemented plans for the interdepartmental program “Care”, the interdepartmental summer employment program for students of educational institutions “Summer for Benefit 2023” . Planned events were held dedicated to the Day of National Remembrance of the Victims of the Great Patriotic War and the genocide of the Belarusian people, and the Independence Day of the Republic of Belarus.

As part of the republican information and educational campaign “Step to Success,” conversations were organized with teenagers aimed at developing civic and patriotic consciousness with the participation of honored guests.

The theme of the shifts in the health camps was aimed at instilling in students respect for the traditional values of the Belarusian people, popularizing the State symbols of the Republic of Belarus, expanding and deepening children’s knowledge about the history of the country through events dedicated to the Year of Peace and Creation.

As part of the prevention of childhood injuries, action plans were developed that included training sessions on measures of safe and responsible behavior during sports, cultural events; promotion of knowledge, skills and habits of safe life among pupils;

interdepartmental activities with the Gomel Regional Emergency Management Department, the Gomel District Commission for Minors, OSVOD, State Traffic Inspectorate, territorial centers of hygiene and epidemiology, departments of ideological work, culture, youth affairs of the Gomel Regional Executive Committee and the Belarusian Republican Youth Union.

Particular attention was paid to children in care, in a socially dangerous situation, with developmental disabilities. During the events they were involved in active participation. Individual work was carried out with these children by a psychologist and a social teacher.

Also, the work of 265 labor and recreation camps for daytime and round-the-clock stay was organized, where 3,981 teenagers worked and rested.

With the assistance of the Committee on Labor, Employment and Social Protection of the Gomel Regional Executive Committee, jobs were created for students in various types of activities with wages. Types of work that teenagers performed: sewing stage costumes, bed linen, landscaping the school grounds, repairing school furniture, making boxes for flower seedlings, transforming sandboxes with a roof, tables and benches, screens for batteries, easels, racks for toys, decoration and weeding flower beds and lawns, working in a nursery, caring for gardens and forests, and others.

In labor and recreation camps, teenagers were able to earn from 30.00 rubles to 400.00 rubles.

The practice of improving the health of orphans and children without parental care and disabled children was continued. Over the summer, 1,266 and 556 children of these categories, respectively, had a rest and improved their health.

The practice of operating defense-sports and military-patriotic camps with day-time and round-the-clock stays has been expanded, in which 187 and 1,352 children, respectively, have improved their health.

Close attention was paid to improving the health of the category of children in need of individual support. Thus, the necessary measures have been taken to organize the health of children with whom individual preventive work is carried out and children in a socially dangerous situation. According to the district education departments, in the summer, 1,293 children registered with the inspectorate for minors in socially dangerous situations were able to improve their health.

Throughout the summer, preventive monitoring of health camps was carried out regarding compliance with sanitary and epidemiological requirements, fire safety, nutritional standards and others. The Gomel Regional Executive Committee approved a schedule of trips to health camps with round-the-clock stays in the summer. The group included specialists from the representative office, the sanitary service, and the education department. The recommendations of the working groups were taken into account by the owners of health camps and were immediately implemented.
