In order to organize health improvement and recreation, ensure maximum employment for children and adolescents during the autumn holidays from October 30 to November 7 (inclusive) 2023, 388 daytime health camps were organized in the Gomel region on the basis of institutions of general secondary education, additional education for children and youth, 8 of them at specialized educational and sports institutions, where 9,428 children were treated.

About 245 thousand rubles were used from the republican budget to improve the health of children in the Gomel region.

The amount of government funds to reduce the cost of a voucher to a health camp with a day stay for at least 6 days was 5 rubles 00 kopecks per one bed-day for each voucher. The parental fee for a trip to a day camp was set in the amount of an additional payment up to the full cost of the trip.

The average cost of a trip to health camps, depending on the age of the child, was: for children 6-10 years old - 34.98 rubles, 11-13 years old - 39.92 rubles, 14-17 years old - 43.15 rubles.

The work of the camps was organized on the basis of orders from the education, sports and tourism departments of the Gomel city administration and the education departments of district executive committees with an approved operating schedule, three balanced meals a day according to the age categories of children, a drinking regime and daytime sleep for younger schoolchildren.

When enrolling children in the camp, preference was given to children from large, low-income and single-parent families, children from foster and guardianship families, who are in the special education system and are subject to various types of registration, on intra-school control, with developmental disabilities and requiring increased psychological and pedagogical attention. Individual work was carried out with these children by a psychologist and a social teacher.

Health camps operated in compliance with sanitary, anti-epidemic, fire and other requirements for organizing children's health.

Primary school teachers, social workers, educational organizers, music, physical education and health teachers, and librarians were involved in the camps.

In order to organize interesting and varied health and recreation for children and adolescents during the autumn holidays, health and educational programs were developed. Activities implemented in the camps were aimed at preserving and strengthening the health of children, developing civic, patriotic, environmental and spiritual-moral education, preserving Belarusian traditions, developing creative potential, preventing injuries, developing rules for safe behavior on the roads, near water bodies, in the event of an emergency fire.
