On December 6, a solemn celebration of the employees of the regional children's rehabilitation and health center "Vetraz" took place on the occasion of its 20th anniversary. The staff of the Center was congratulated on the significant date by the Chairman of the Postavy District Executive Committee Sergei Chepik, the head of the representative office of the Vitebsk Regional Department of the Republican Center for Health Improvement and Sanatorium Treatment of the Population Snezhana Titova, the chief specialist of the Main Institution of Health Care of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee Irina Mikheenko, the Chairman of the Vitebsk Regional Committee of the BPRZ Vladimir Plytkevich, the head of the State Institution “1-th military hospital of the border service of the Republic of Belarus,” medical service colonel Oleg Rotko, head of the Postavy district police department Dmitry Kutalev, heads of regional institutions and organizations, chief doctors of health care institutions of the Vitebsk region, veterans.

The head of the district, Sergei Vasilyevich Chepik, in his congratulations, noted the great coordinated work of the institution’s employees and the personal contribution of the chief physician, Sergei Yuryevich Petukhov. Using unique treatment methods, maintaining and strengthening the material and technical base, selecting highly qualified specialists, a unique children's rehabilitation center of the republican level has been created in the Postavy region, which is known not only in the Republic of Belarus, but also beyond its borders.

For many years, the Vetraz RESEC has been introducing new technologies, actively and closely cooperating with Vitebsk Medical University, other universities and institutions of the country. Today’s anniversary is still small, but it is a huge effort of a large united team: medical workers, doctors, paramedical and junior medical personnel and teachers.

High appreciation of work, gratitude for everyday dedicated work, and sincere wishes were heard on this day in the speeches of honored guests, colleagues and friends of the Center.

The best representatives of the institution were awarded high awards for high professionalism, dedicated work and dedication to the profession.

The center’s specialists helped several generations of children return to a full, active life, and their parents strengthened their hope for their children’s recovery.

The created conditions allow us to simultaneously accommodate 250 children and adolescents aged 1.5 to 18 years. Children come for treatment at the referrals of health care institutions in the Vitebsk region and as part of government health programs from other regions of the republic.

Every year, more than 3,000 children undergo treatment and rehabilitation at the Center, including more than 300 children from the Russian Federation. Since the opening of the institution from 2003 to the present, the treatment and rehabilitation of children is carried out within the framework of the implementation of state programs, in accordance with the regulatory documents of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Belarus and the Republican Center for Health Improvement and Sanatorium Treatment of the Population, regulating this activity.The work of the center is based on a combination of well-known classical methods of restoring health and new scientific achievements. Currently, the treatment department of the Center performs more than 200 different procedures to help overcome diseases. The classrooms are equipped with modern equipment. Effective methods of instrumental physiotherapy, magnetic therapy, extracorporeal magnetic therapy of the pelvic organs, injection carboxytherapy, transcranial and transvertebral micropolarization of the brain, halotherapy and treatment in the conditions of an amber-salt complex are widely used. Modern kinesitherapy technologies have been introduced: rehabilitation for neurological, musculoskeletal pathologies using a suspension system, individual physical therapy. Specialized multifunctional exercise therapy rooms are equipped. To restore and develop coordination of movements, formation and development of fine motor skills of the hand, training is carried out on simulators with biofeedback.

The center’s specialists were the first in Belarus in using some technologies. For example, in the use of space technologies for the treatment of children with cerebral palsy and other organic lesions of the central nervous system. In the rehabilitation complex for such children, a plantar support load simulator, or “space boots,” is used.

In recent years, the demand for rehabilitation and adaptation programs for children with autism spectrum disorders, speech delays, and other mental problems has increased. For such children, conditions have been created for comprehensive medical and psychological correctional rehabilitation. Experienced specialists work in modern offices. Interactive equipment with biofeedback, modern techniques of audio correction and sensory integration, and group therapy are used.

The activities of the Vetraz rehabilitation center are aimed at preserving and developing the health potential of each child, which meets one of the fundamental goals of sustainable development: ensuring a healthy lifestyle and promoting well-being at any age. And medical procedures, classes with teachers, psychologists and speech therapists, activities in the leisure center, fresh air of the pine forest - all this effectively prevents complications, restores the active functioning of children, improves emotional and physical health.
