Rehabilitation of children living or studying in educational institutions on the territory of radioactive contamination of the Brest region

Particular attention in the region is paid to sanatorium treatment and rehabilitation of children living or studying in areas contaminated with radionuclides.

In accordance with the current legislation, minor children living or studying in educational institutions in the territory of radioactive contamination, in the zone of subsequent resettlement, in the zone with the right to resettlement and in the zone of residence with periodic radiation control, are entitled to annual free sanatorium treatment or rehabilitation . The duration of stay of children in sanatoriums is 24 days, which is the optimal period for a full course of treatment and rehabilitation.

So, in 2021, 10,840 vouchers were sold in the region at the expense of the republican budget for this category of children, including 9,739 for children and 1,064 for accompanying persons. For these purposes, 10.1 million rubles of state funds were spent, including 357.6 thousand rubles for travel to sanatorium and resort organizations and back. Coverage in 2021 amounted to 59.1% of the children of this category subject to sanatorium treatment and rehabilitation (2020 - 47.6%, 2019 - 63.5%). This year, the need for this category of children in sanatorium treatment and rehabilitation will also be fully satisfied.

It should be noted that preschool children and disabled children are sent to sanatorium and resort organizations accompanied by one of their parents, schoolchildren go to health improvement and sanatorium treatment in organized groups accompanied by teachers.

To receive children traveling for treatment and rehabilitation as part of organized groups in the Brest region, there are two specialized health resorts - HICC "Kolos" (Kobrin district) and HICC "Svitanak" (Pinsk district). Also, this category of children in 2021 received sanatorium-and-spa treatment and rehabilitation at the PMC for the provision of services "Sanatorium Chaborok" (Baranovichi district, Brest region), HICC "Zhdanovichi" (Minsk region), HICC "Nadezhda" (Minsk region), State Institution "Sanatorium" Belaya Rus "(Tuapse district, Russian Federation).

Health resorts are located in ecologically favorable regions, away from large industrial enterprises, in picturesque places, surrounded by forests, near water bodies.

In the above health resorts, all conditions have been created for the organization of treatment and rehabilitation, the educational process, and the organization of children's leisure.

Sanatorium-resort treatment of children is carried out according to modern methods. The entire health complex is built on the use of natural and preformed factors: a favorable climate, mineral water, mud, herbal medicine, various baths and showers, inhalations, physiotherapy and much more. Health resorts are equipped with modern medical equipment, which allows not only treatment, but also the diagnosis of diseases in children.

The medical database of sanatorium organizations is extensive and allows for effective treatment of diseases of the circulatory system, respiratory system, digestion, nervous system, and genitourinary system.

To ensure a continuous educational process in these sanatoriums, all conditions are provided. The classrooms have furniture of different ages, information stands, blackboards, washbasins. Classes are organized in accordance with the curricula for conducting classes in the conditions of sanatorium treatment and rehabilitation.
