It all started back in the late 1990s. In a difficult time, lack of money, it was decided to create on the basis of a military camp in Borovka, Lepelsky district, the Zhemchuzhina Health and Educational Center. It was very difficult to resolve the issues, but thanks to the support of the President of the Republic of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko, this project came true. Since 2002, the rehabilitation of the children of Belarus and the Russian Federation, who lived in the territories affected by the Chernobyl accident, began here. Thanks to the authorities and the labor collective, it has become a center that corresponds to the world level. The HRC is equipped with modern medical equipment and provides a full range of health services.

The construction of the facility was carried out under the state program for overcoming the consequences of the disaster at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant. The new building of the HICC "Pearl" is designed for 166 seats. In the residential wing there are rooms with one, two and three rooms, including 10 rooms for wheelchair users. In the building there is a canteen with production shops of the catering department and a dining room for 84 seats, a medical unit, recreation areas - recreation for children's leisure, as well as playrooms, a phytobar. Small architectural forms are installed on the adjacent landscaped area, and the beach area on the shore of Lake Schibot is equipped with everything necessary for relaxing by the water in the warm season.

In the medical block there are rooms for electro-light therapy, electrosleep, magnetotherapy, balneotherapy, inhalation, treatment room with artificial climatic conditions, massage room. The purchased equipment allows to carry out different types of therapy. The gym has equipment for strength and functional training, exercise therapy.

With the opening of the new building, the number of places for the improvement of children has increased by about 30%. The building was built taking into account the treatment of children with disabilities, and an accessible barrier-free environment was organized for them in the rooms, medical unit and recreation areas.

Thanks to the opening of the new building, 55 new jobs have been created, including 11 for medical workers.

Henadzi Balbatouski, Director of the Republican Center for Health Improvement and Sanatorium Treatment of the Population, noted that the new building was built in accordance with modern approaches and corresponds to a high level of health improvement. And what is especially important for the demographic security of Belarus, our children receive free spa treatment. Vouchers for them are paid at the expense of budget financing. Particular attention is paid to children who live or study in the territories affected by the accident at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant, as well as children with disabilities. The children will be provided with a wide range of medical services, leisure activities, including those aimed at cultivating socially responsible behavior and a sense of civic duty, a continuous educational process, excursions and, in general, all the necessary measures to maintain and strengthen the health and harmonious development of the child's personality. Health resorts for children are developing in the right direction, and this development is manifested in the constant growth of the effectiveness of sanatorium and resort care provided to the children's population of Belarus, Henadzi Balbatouski summed up.

Henadzi Balbatouski awarded the best representatives of the construction industry of the Vitebsk region with certificates of honor from the Republican Center for Health Improvement and Sanatorium-Resort Treatment of the Population.
