Improvement of children's health in the Gomel region during the period winter holidays 2023-2024 academic year

In order to organize health improvement and recreation, create conditions for active developmental leisure for children and adolescents during the winter holidays from December 25, 2023. until January 7, 2024, about 390 health camps with daytime stay will operate in the Gomel region on the basis of educational institutions, additional education for children and youth, specialized educational and sports institutions, in which 9,000 children will be provided with health benefits. The duration of the shift will be seven days.

For this purpose, about 320.00 thousand rubles have been allocated from the republican budget for the rehabilitation of children in the Gomel region. According to the order of the Republican Center for Health Improvement and Sanatorium-Resort Treatment of the Population dated December 13, 2023 No. 68, the amount of funds to reduce the cost of vouchers to health, sports and health camps with day stay for one bed-day for each child is 5 rubles 00 kopecks. The parental fee for a trip to a day camp is set in the amount of an additional payment up to the full cost of the trip.

The average cost of a trip to health camps with a day stay, depending on the age of the child, is planned to be: for children 6-10 years old - 38.78 rubles, 11-13 years old - 43.90 rubles, 14-17 years old - 46.76 rubles.

Health camps will operate on the basis of orders of the education, sports and tourism departments of the Gomel administration and the education departments of district executive committees with an approved operating schedule, three balanced meals a day according to the age categories of children, a drinking regime and daytime sleep for younger schoolchildren.

When forming camps, the social status of children is taken into account: preference is given to minors from large, low-income and single-parent families who are in a socially dangerous situation and are subject to various types of registration, internal school control, students from large and low-income families, children from foster and guardianship families.

It is planned to involve primary school teachers, social workers, educational organizers, music, physical education and health teachers, and librarians to work in the camp.

Health camps are organized in compliance with sanitary, fire and other requirements for organizing children's health. The organizers are developing special health and educational programs, including physical education, health, sports and cultural events.

One of the important areas of educational work during the winter holidays is the promotion of a healthy lifestyle. In this regard, it is planned to conduct various classes in the camps with elements of fairy tale therapy, quizzes, trainings, etc. To develop the concept of life safety in children, the camps will undergo daily safety briefings, screenings of thematic cartoons, film lectures, games with elements of traffic rules, walking workshops, etc. Also, during the shift, volunteer matinees, competitions and games, walks in the fresh air, excursions and various New Year’s events are planned in the camps.

Traditionally, during the winter holidays, winners of international, regional and republican creative competitions, sports competitions, disabled children, children from large, low-income families, and orphans will take part in New Year's charity events, which will be held at the Gomel State Circus with the participation of the Governor of the Gomel Region I.I. Krupko and on the basis of the city cultural center with the participation of the Chairman of the Gomel City Executive Committee Privalov V.A.

Thus, the children's winter holidays will be filled with interesting and varied events.
