Results of the Gomel region’s work on organizing sanatorium-resort treatment and improving the health of the population in 2023

Based on the results of work in 2023, 154,716 residents of the Gomel region were provided with sanatorium-resort treatment and recovery using funds from the republican budget and the budget of the state extra-budgetary fund for social protection of the population, which is almost 6,000 people more than in 2022. 98.40 million rubles of public funds were spent on the implementation of these tasks.

With vouchers purchased at the expense of the republican budget, 4,140 non-working pensioners were sent for sanatorium-resort treatment, of which 1,144 were citizens entitled to free extraordinary and priority sanatorium-resort treatment, including 59 disabled people of groups I, II, enjoying benefits under Article 18 of the Law of the Republic of Belarus dated January 6, 2009 “On the social protection of citizens affected by the Chernobyl nuclear power plant disaster and other radiation accidents.” For the category of citizens from law enforcement agencies, 133 vouchers were allocated for sanatorium and resort treatment.

Using vouchers purchased from the budget of the state extra-budgetary fund for social protection of the population, 6,065 people, including 2,761 minor children, underwent sanatorium-resort treatment.

The focus is on referrals to sanatorium-resort treatment for disabled children. In 2023, 800 disabled children were provided with vouchers for sanatorium and resort treatment, of which: at the expense of the republican budget for vouchers for disabled children - 531 children; at the expense of the republican budget funds aimed at overcoming the consequences of the disaster at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant, 236 children; At the expense of the fund's budget, 33 children.

One of the priority tasks of the region is to provide sanatorium treatment and health improvement for children living or studying in educational institutions in areas of radioactive contamination. At the expense of the republican budget funds provided for overcoming the consequences of the disaster at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant, 65,409 children were allocated for sanatorium-resort treatment and rehabilitation, which is almost 4,300 more people than in 2022, including:

vouchers for parents with children aged 3 to 6 years provided 1,941 children with sanatorium-resort treatment;

in country camps in the summer, 1,851 children were provided with health benefits;

61,617 children were sent to sanatorium-resort treatment and recovery in organized groups.

An important area of the representative office’s work is organizing children’s health during the holiday period in various types of camps.

In 2023, 2,322 camps were organized in the Gomel region according to profiles and areas of activity, in which 72,155 children improved their health, which is almost 2,460 more children compared to 2022. Thus, in addition to 1,851 children sent to health camps at the expense of the republican budget allocated to overcome the consequences of the disaster at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant, 70,113 children underwent health improvement in camps using government funds to reduce the cost of the trip, 191 children received their health at full cost. 556 disabled children were also provided with health benefits in the camps.

The implementation of tasks to ensure the state-guaranteed rights of citizens in the field of sanatorium treatment and recovery will continue.
