Close Belarusian-Russian cooperation in the field of spa treatment has been ensured since 2002 within the framework of the annual program implemented by the Permanent Committee of the Union State jointly with the Republican Center for Health Improvement and Sanatorium-Resort Treatment of the Population of the Republic of Belarus and the administrations of the constituent entities of the Russian Federation.

On April 2, festive events were held in Vitebsk to mark the Day of Unity of the Peoples of Belarus and Russia, which were attended by: Alexey Talai, member of the national Paralympic swimming team, motivational speaker; Igor Lyakhov, Chairman of the Smolensk Regional Duma, Dmitry Demidov; Chairman of the Vitebsk Regional Council of Deputies; Sniazhana Tsitova, Head of the Representative Office of the Vitebsk Regional Administration of the Republican Center for Health Improvement and Spa Treatment of the Population.

– On April 2, 1996, the Treaty on the Formation of the Union of Belarus and Russia was signed. While remaining independent sovereign countries, we are building a unique state entity – the Union State, which should serve to create favorable conditions for the life of our citizens, strengthen the economic and defense potential, – emphasized the Chairman of the Vitebsk Regional Council of Deputies Dmitry Demidov.

A festive event was held at the Vitebsk State University named after P.M. Masherov, marking the completion of the project “Living Memory of Grateful Generations”, thanks to which, in the year of the 80th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War, a monument of the same name will appear on Poklonnaya Gora in Moscow, created from an alloy of coins collected by residents of the two countries.

Direct participants of the project – representatives of enterprises and organizations of the city of Vitebsk, representatives of the Pskov and Smolensk regions – gathered in one hall. Everyone responded and took part in the campaign to collect Soviet coins for the installation of a monument as a token of gratitude to the generation of victors over fascism.

Chairman of the Smolensk Regional Duma Igor Lyakhov said that the project "Living Memory of Grateful Generations" found a great response among residents of the Smolensk region. They collected over 300 kilograms of coins.

A memorable event of the day was a meeting with the founder of the charity foundation that is organizing the project, Alexey Talai, a member of the national Paralympic swimming team, entrepreneur and motivational speaker.

Alexey Talai noted that the Vitebsk region was very active in the project, which he is very proud of, because the northern region is his small homeland.

On the Day of Unity of the Peoples of Belarus and Russia, a flower-laying ceremony was held at the military burial site on Sovetskaya Street in Vitebsk.

The event participants honored the memory of the soldiers who gave their lives for freedom and a peaceful future, and emphasized the importance of maintaining unity and cooperation between Belarus and Russia.
