Field seminar of the Minsk City Council of Deputies on the organization of children's health improvement in the summer of 2025

23-Jun-2025

The summer wellness campaign is an area of special attention for the public and the leadership of our city.

In this regard, on June 12, a field seminar of the Minsk City Council of Deputies on organizing summer recreation for children was held.

The seminar was attended by Chairman of the Minsk City Council Artyom  Tsuran, head of the representative office of the Minsk City Administration of the Republican Center for Health Improvement and Sanatorium-Resort Treatment of the Population Valery Naftanovich, chief physician of the Minsk City Center for Hygiene and Epidemiology Grigory Getyuk, deputies of the Minsk City Council.

The deputies got acquainted with the material and technical base of the camps "Energetik" of the Minskenergo and N. Gastello enterprises of the Minsk branch of the Belarusian Railway.

According to Valery Nafranovich, these facilities were not chosen by chance: the owners of the educational and health camps invested a large amount of money for the development of facilities, including the construction of new sites. It is possible to assess how the complex combines the support provided by the city and the funds invested by the owner.

It should be noted that in recent years, the popularity of health camps has grown significantly. The number of children who want to spend their holidays in our camps has increased. And this is an obvious positive trend, which obliges to improve not only the logistical base of the camps, but also the software for summer holidays.

— The main purpose of the seminar is to get acquainted with one of the areas of children's health improvement, for which considerable budget funds are spent. This is a serious position in the city's budget. 2.5 million rubles are provided for the preparation of summer health camps this year alone. At the same time, we know that the city's enterprises also independently invest a lot of money in the camp base. In 2025, it amounted to about 10 million rubles. — Artem Tsuran, Chairman of the Minsk City Council, commented.

About three hundred children per shift come to the Energetik camp, which turned 54 this year. Recently, a large sports and recreation complex, a multi-purpose sports hall, a modern tennis court with fencing, sports grounds with a secure surface, and a football field have been built here almost from scratch. A modern campfire room was also set up for children in continuation of the old pioneer traditions of summing up the campfire shift. This year, the budget allocated for the camp was spent on upgrading the bathrooms and showers in one of the buildings.

Much has also been done at the N. Gastello camp, which turns 71 this year.

— This is the third summer that we have been working with an updated staff: major repairs have been carried out in all buildings, including the dining room. Almost all new equipment for food stores, furniture for buildings have been purchased, the territory, children's and sports grounds have been renovated, a summer bandstand has been decorated, new sound and lighting equipment has been purchased, and a medical center has been completely re-equipped. Children undergo rehabilitation for 18 days, despite the trend of recent years – 15 days. During this season, the camp will receive more than 1,000 children for rehabilitation. It should be noted that the camp is 100% full. Applications for admission have been accepted since February, and by mid—April the picture for the whole summer is already visible," said Svetlana Marinovich, head of the N. Gastello educational and recreation camp.

During the round table, Valery Nafranovich and Grigory Getyuk made presentations on the organization of summer recreation for children in Minsk and on the monitoring of camps by the sanitary and epidemiological service, deputies discussed issues related to the rehabilitation of orphans and disabled children, the work of educators, planning daily activities, and to introduce new forms of cooperation.
