15-September-2025

On September 4th of this year, a celebratory event to mark Union State Day was held at the Zhemchuzhina Children's Rehabilitation and Health Center in the Vitebsk Region. The celebration took place during the very same period when the sanatorium welcomed not only young Belarusians but also children from the Kaluga and Bryansk Regions of the Russian Federation.

The ceremony was attended by: Chairman of the Standing Committee of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus on Healthcare, Physical Culture, Family and Youth Policy, Chairman of the Parliamentary Assembly Commission on Healthcare Valery Malashko, Deputy Chairman of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee Vyacheslav Durnov, Deputy Head of the Representative Office of the Vitebsk Regional Office of the Republican Center for Health Improvement and Sanatorium-Resort Treatment of the Population Galina Bachuk, Chairman of the Lepel District Executive Committee Mikhail Kiselevich, Consultant of the Representative Office of the Standing Committee of the Union State in Minsk Natalya Burak and other distinguished guests.

Union State Day at the Zhemchuzhina Children's and Health Center is not just a holiday; it is an investment in the future. It is an opportunity to instill in the younger generation a sense of respect for the history, culture, and traditions of fraternal peoples and to strengthen the bonds of friendship and cooperation between Belarus and Russia. Since 2004, the Zhemchuzhina Children's Rehabilitation and Health Center has been a regular participant in the Union State event "Organization of Treatment and Rehabilitation for Children from Regions of Belarus and Russia Most Affected by the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant Disaster and Other Natural and Man-Made Disasters."

On the day of the celebrations, 60 children from Russia and 30 from Belarus received Union State vouchers at the health center.

As part of Union State Day, in addition to the ceremonial assembly "Unity of Our States," the Zhemchuzhina Children's Rehabilitation and Health Center also laid out an Alley of Memory and Friendship in honor of the 80th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War and the strengthening of friendly ties between children of the Union State. Continuing the theme of the heroic past of the peoples of Belarus and Russia during the Great Patriotic War, guests were treated to a thematic area consisting of several locations demonstrating how the district newspaper was published during those terrible years, how soldiers wrote letters to their families, and how they organized their daily lives and leisure.

The meeting continued with a dialogue area, during which the main topic was strengthening the allied relations between the two countries.

One of the most touching moments was participating in the "Letter to the Future" campaign. Children and guests wrote letters to future generations and placed them in a memory capsule.

The capsule is scheduled to be opened in 20 years, on September 4, 2045.
