Reception of citizens by the Director of the Republican Center for Health Improvement and Sanatorium-Resort Treatment of the Population at the Grodno City Executive Committee

24-October-2025

Henadzi Balbatouski, Director of the Republican Center for Health and Sanatorium-Resort Treatment of the Population, held a public reception at the Grodno City Executive Committee to discuss personal matters. Before the reception, a meeting was held with Vitaly Mamochkin, Deputy Chairman of the City Executive Committee. The meeting discussed issues related to the health of Grodno residents. Regarding the public reception itself, it demonstrated the importance and necessity of spa treatment and health improvement for Grodno residents.

A woman was the first to attend the reception, expressing her sincere gratitude for the opportunity provided to senior citizens to rest and recover in Belarusian sanatoriums. She noted that such a vacation is a true salvation for the elderly.

"Thank you so much for your work!" she said. "I would like to see senior citizens more often receive vouchers to sanatoriums in the Grodno Region, so that their travels would be easier." And, of course, it would be great to increase the number of vouchers for the fall-winter period.

Henadzi Balbatouski expressed understanding of the request:

"When distributing vouchers, we do utilize territorial principles, trying to provide health treatment opportunities closer to home, especially for senior citizens," he emphasized. "But we mustn't forget that the Center purchases vouchers in all regions and distributes them to everyone in need. More than 50% of vouchers purchased in the Grodno Region are reserved for residents of that region. However, when issuing a voucher, the primary consideration is the required treatment. Many patients may be recommended for treatment at a sanatorium in another region."

One of the most frequently asked questions concerned the frequency of vouchers. Several people expressed dissatisfaction with the fact that vouchers to a sanatorium are provided once every three years. The Center's director explained the situation:

"Every year, approximately 800,000 people receive subsidized treatment." Today, the state fully fulfills its obligations. The three-yearly voucher system is justified, and no legislative changes are currently envisaged. We may reconsider this frequency at some point if we see a need. In 2026, we plan to review how this system has performed over the past three years and, based on the results, decide what to do next.

The opportunity to directly ask questions, receive clarification, and share suggestions is what makes the spa treatment system more effective and responsive to people's needs.

"We are always open to dialogue and are ready to consider any proposals aimed at improving the health system," emphasized Henadzi Balbatouski at the end of the reception. "Our main goal is to provide as many citizens as possible with high-quality and affordable spa treatment."
