Scientific and practical educational seminar with international participation «Current issues of spa treatment and rehabilitation of children affected by the Chernobyl nuclear power plant disaster»
04-December-2025On November 27, 2025, a scientific and practical educational seminar with international participation, "Current Issues in Spa Treatment and Health Improvement for Children Affected by the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant Disaster," was held at the Zhdanovichi Children's Rehabilitation and Health Center.
The seminar was attended by heads of spa and health resort organizations, medical specialists, head nurses, and exercise therapy instructors.
Welcoming remarks were given by:
Tatyana Perepetskaya, Director of the Zhdanovichi Children's Rehabilitation and Health Center;

Lyudmila Belakhvostsik, Head of the Organizational and Personnel Work and Voucher Provision Department of the Republican Center for Health Improvement and Sanatorium-Resort Treatment of the Population;

Ekaterina Shmeleva, Head of the Department for Radioactive Waste and Nuclear Legacy Management at the Department of Nuclear and Radiation Safety of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Republic of Belarus.

Tatyana Kuksa, Chief Specialist of the Property Management Directorate of the Federation of Trade Unions of Belarus, informed the seminar participants about changes in the certification of medical workers.

Many interesting and useful presentations were given by staff of the Department of Medical Rehabilitation and Sports Medicine with a course on advanced training and retraining at the Belarusian State Medical University.
Lyudmila Malkevich, PhD, Associate Professor, and Head of the Department, spoke about the specifics of physiotherapy for children affected by the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant disaster, new magnetic therapy technologies, and a modern approach to inhalation therapy for children.
Natalia Yakovleva, Senior Lecturer in the Department, presented information on physiotherapy for movement disorders in children. Olga Vorotnitskaya, senior lecturer in the department, spoke about the potential use of carboxytherapy in spa treatment for children.
Alena Vanda, senior lecturer in the department, presented information on climatotherapy techniques and methods and conducted a master class in exercise therapy.

Larisa Podsadchik, associate professor in the reflexology department at the Institute of Reflexology, Health and Personal Development, Belarusian State Medical University, spoke about the potential of reflexology in pediatric practice.
Svetlana Kostritsa, deputy director of the Zhdanovichi Children's Health and Recreation Center, shared her experience with hydrobalneotherapy for children.


Mukadas Umarova, PhD, a member of the Union of Pediatricians of Russia and founder of the Insight Mental Health Center, spoke at the seminar. She described the work of her center and the effectiveness of magnetic therapy in the comprehensive rehabilitation of children with disabilities. All presentations were engaging and useful, as the speakers possessed deep knowledge in their fields and were able to convey information in an engaging manner. The material was presented in an accessible manner and contained valuable insights, advice, and practical skills that participants could apply in their work. Participants not only listened to the presentations but also engaged in the process through discussions and questions.
The seminar left a positive impression and provided an opportunity to meet colleagues and like-minded individuals.
Participants received certificates of participation in the Republican Scientific and Practical Seminar with International Participation, comprising eight hours of professional training, and went home with new knowledge, skills, and understanding, which will be beneficial for their professional development.
