Republican Conference on Sanatorium and Sanatorium-Resort Treatment for War and Labor Veterans and the Disabled

16-December-2025

On December 12, a national meeting was held at the Vyazhuti State Sanatorium for Persons with Musculoskeletal Disabilities, dedicated to the development of a system of spa treatment for war and labor veterans and the disabled. The working meeting was attended by Minister of Labor and Social Protection Natalia Pavlyuchenko, Director of the Republican Center for Health and Sanatorium-Resort Treatment of the Population Henadzi Balbatouski, as well as chief physicians and representatives of the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection's sanatoriums "Belaya Vezha," "Berezina," "Vyazhuti," and "Yaselda."

Before the meeting, N. Bychkovskaya, Chief Physician of the Vyazhuti Sanatorium, presented her presentation. She introduced the participants to the sanatorium's facilities and detailed the resort's capabilities, occupancy rates, medical services provided, the state of the rooms, and the timeline for completion of the swimming pool and its commissioning.

Opening the working meeting, Minister of Labor and Social Protection Natalia Pavlyuchenko emphasized that "our main goal is to provide modern and high-quality service and a range of necessary services."

The discussion focused on the interim results of the implementation of the development strategy for sanatoriums under the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection for 2024-2026.

In the eighteen months since the program's implementation, significant results have been achieved: 28 new treatment and rehabilitation services have been introduced, 26 comprehensive wellness programs have been developed, and 49 units of modern medical equipment have been purchased. This has allowed us to address many pressing health needs for senior citizens and individuals with disabilities.

Furthermore, all Ministry of Labor sanatoriums have created accessible environments in both residential and treatment buildings. The grounds are landscaped, and facilities (ramps, handrails, and widened openings) ensure unimpeded access for vacationers. Parking spaces for the disabled are also provided.

In his speech, Henadzi Balbatouski noted that the Republican Center for Health Improvement and Sanatorium-Resort Treatment of the Population places special emphasis on physically impaired individuals. These individuals are one of the main categories of consumers of spa and resort services. Providing them with adequate quality services requires addressing the issue of accessible environments.

The number of accessible spaces created at the health resorts allows for the annual provision of medical and health services to more than 20,000 individuals with disabilities who have an objective need for an accessible environment. This effectively meets their social demand for these services, which is supported by budgetary funding.

Vouchers for spa treatment purchased with budgetary funding approximately 16,000 vouchers are purchased annually for unemployed adults are distributed by the Center to the regions and the city of Minsk in proportion to the population registered with specialists at the Center's representative offices and in need of spa treatment.

In addition, the Center annually distributes vouchers for spa treatment for war and labor veterans and the disabled at four sanatoriums operated by the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection. These vouchers are donated to the Center, with an annual volume of over 14,500.

All of the heads of the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection's sanatoriums spoke about the development prospects. Following the republican meeting, objectives for 2026 were identified, including the completion of construction projects at the Vyazhuti sanatorium and further work to improve the quality and accessibility of spa services for eligible citizens.
