Children's health improvement during the summer was discussed at the Vitebsk Region Media Center
13-May-2026
Alesia Chornaya, Head of the Vitebsk Regional Office of the Republican Center for Health Improvement and Sanatorium-Resort Treatment of the Population; Alesya Ivanova, Methodologist of the Pervomaisky District Educational and Methodological Office; and Alexander Gibkhin, Deputy General Director for Economics of the State Enterprise "Vitebsk DSK," were invited to participate in the discussion.

The summer health camp period not only improves children's health but also allows them to use their free time to conduct activities that promote the moral and patriotic education of the younger generation.
The Vitebsk Region has the largest number of 24-hour camps of any region in Belarus. Currently, 33 suburban camps are preparing for summer operations. Additionally, 24-hour camps will open on rented premises in the Lepel, Postavy, and Orsha districts. During the summer of 2026, 47,700 children are planned to attend camps of all types in the Vitebsk region. This includes 16,900 children in full-time camps (15,600 in educational and health camps and 1,300 in sports and health camps), 1,800 in tent camps, 400 of which will be in mobile camps, and 29,000 in day camps.
During the school holidays, work and recreation camps will also be organized, operating at schools, organizations, and businesses. These camps aim to acquire practical work skills, engage children in socially beneficial activities, develop healthy lifestyle habits, create conditions for career self-determination, and help children understand their career choices and the social significance of their work.
Countryside camps are the most popular among parents, as the recreational benefits of camping in a forested area at a permanent facility are particularly beneficial.
The regional budget has allocated 860,000 rubles for the development and strengthening of the facilities and equipment of countryside health camps, and 1.4 million rubles for repairs and training for the owners of budget-funded camps.
Camp owners also contribute their own funds annually for repairs and equipment upgrades.
The regional budget has allocated 40,000 rubles to reduce the cost of camps and supplement the full cost of camp vouchers for children with disabilities and children of unemployed pensioners. Children from large families and employees of public organizations financed by the city and regional budgets will also be considered, with a discount of 5 base units provided, but the parental fee for the camp voucher must be at least 10% of the full cost.
Local executive committees also make decisions annually on supporting socially vulnerable categories from local budgets.
