Why do people come back to Belarusian sanatoriums again? Henadzi Balbatouski, Director of the Republican Center for Health Improvement and Spa Treatment of the Population, told journalists at a press conference on July 19, 2024, which was held at the State Institution "Yunost" Sanatorium of the Presidential Property Management Department of the Republic of Belarus.

"The quality of services and their uniqueness. Today, sanatoriums and resorts offer treatment procedures and methods using the natural potential of Belarus: mineral waters, therapeutic mud, etc.," said H. Balbatouski, answering the question of why Belarusian sanatoriums attract foreign tourists.

During the summer campaign, more than 25 thousand people are in Belarusian sanatoriums and resorts every day. Of these, about 6-7 thousand are foreign citizens. In addition to our neighbors, the Russians, Belarus is attractive to residents of Africa, Qatar, Australia and other countries. The visa-free regime introduced on July 19 for representatives of 35 other countries will also contribute to the influx of foreigners to our sanatoriums. Western consumers know about the quality of Belarusian sanatoriums, so they have no doubt that this will serve as an additional factor for realizing the country's tourism potential.

According to the director of the center, the steady demand and stable operation of the health resort complex of Belarus are also evidenced by the indicators for the first half of the year. In the first half of the year, the average occupancy rate exceeded 80 percent. This is 3 percent more than for the same period last year. As for the number of people who underwent health resort treatment and recovery, it amounted to 834 thousand - an increase of 6 percent compared to the first half of 2023.

The same trend is noted in the export of services. Over 109 thousand foreign citizens underwent health resort treatment and recovery in the first half of the year. The growth compared to the first half of 2023 was 22 percent. Revenue from export of services increased by 37 percent and exceeded 170 million rubles.

The children's summer health campaign is also proceeding as usual. According to plans, about 393 thousand children were supposed to improve their health in the camps, but now it is obvious that their number will exceed 400 thousand.
