Results of the Gomel region’s work on organizing sanatorium-resort treatment and improving the health of the population in 2024

The Gomel regional department of the Republican Center for Health Improvement and Sanatorium-Resort Treatment of the Population carries out the tasks of ensuring state-guaranteed social benefits and rights of the population in the field of sanatorium-resort treatment and recovery.

Based on the results of work for 2024, 153,000 residents of the Gomel Region were provided with spa treatment and health improvement using funds from the republican budget and the budget of the state extra-budgetary fund for social protection of the population. 94.3 million rubles of state funds were used to implement these tasks. 5,140 unemployed citizens were provided with spa treatment using vouchers purchased from the republican budget, which is 1,000 people more than in 2023 (4,140), of which 1,167 had the right to free out-of-turn and priority spa treatment. 101 unemployed pensioners of law enforcement agencies were provided with spa treatment.

1,252 students were provided with spa treatment at the student sanatorium-preventorium of the Educational Institution "Mozyr State Pedagogical University named after I.P. Shamyakin" using vouchers purchased from the budget of the state extra-budgetary fund for social protection of the population.

2,894 working citizens and 2,192 of their minor children received spa treatment using vouchers purchased from the budget of the state extra-budgetary fund for social protection of the population. The focus is on improving the health of disabled children. In 2024, 918 disabled children were provided with vouchers for spa treatment, including:

- 574 children from the republican budget for vouchers for disabled children;

- 314 people from the republican budget aimed at overcoming the consequences of the Chernobyl disaster;

- 30 children from the republican budget for vouchers for an adult with a child, issued at the parent's place of work.

One of the priority tasks of the region is to provide spa treatment and health improvement to citizens affected by the consequences of the Chernobyl disaster.

At the expense of the republican budget allocated for overcoming the consequences of the disaster at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant, in 2024 the following were sent for sanatorium and resort treatment and rehabilitation:

84 disabled persons of groups I and II as a result of the disaster at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant (Article 18 of the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant);

1906 children of preschool age accompanied by one of the parents;

58055 children living or studying in educational institutions in the territory of radioactive contamination, as part of organized groups accompanied by 4740 teaching staff, including 36253 children studying in educational institutions of the city of Gomel.

2006 children - in round-the-clock health camps.

Also, 127 children of the Gomel region affected by the consequences of the disaster at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant were provided with rehabilitation at the expense of the budget of the Union State.

An important area of work of the representative office is the organization of health improvement of children during the holiday period in camps of various types. In 2024, 2,305 camps were organized in the Gomel region according to profiles and areas of activity, in which 73,998 people improved their health (1,843 children more than in 2023), including 1,009 disabled children.

The representative office coordinates and monitors the activities of health resort and health organizations of the region.

There are 17 certified health resort and health organizations of various departmental subordination in the Gomel region, including 9 sanatoriums, 6 children's rehabilitation and health centers and 2 recreation centers.

In 2024, 117,232 vouchers were sold, or 105.1% of the 2023 level. In 2024, sanatoriums provided more than a quarter of the places to foreign citizens, thus selling 31,594 vouchers, which amounted to 121.9% of the 2023 level.

In 2024, revenue from the sale of vouchers by health resort and health organizations amounted to 129.2 million rubles, or 113.9% of the 2023 level, of which 39.6 million rubles came from the export of services, which amounted to 165.5% of the 2023 level.

Strengthening the material and technical base, investing in the development of tourism infrastructure are priority areas in the activities of health resort and health organizations of the Gomel region. In 2024, almost 33 million rubles were allocated to strengthen the material and technical base of organizations in the Gomel region:

the reconstruction of the KUP "DROC "Kristalny" was completed, for which 21.8 million rubles were used;

DUP "Sanatorium "Pridneprovsky" used - 2.9 million rubles;

Sanatorium "Solnechny Bereg" of the USO RUP "PO "Belorusneft" used - 1.5 million rubles;

KUP "DROC "Praleska" used - 910.8 thousand rubles.

The proper condition of the material and technical base is one of the factors of the attractiveness (competitiveness) of sanatoriums. The occupancy rate of sanatoriums in the Gomel region based on the results of work for 2024 was 85.4%.

In order to increase the demand for health resort and health services for citizens of the Republic of Belarus and foreign citizens, health resorts of the Gomel region continue to work on creating the most attractive, comfortable conditions, strengthening the material and technical base, mastering and implementing modern methods of treatment. The Gomel regional department of the Republican Center for Health Improvement and Sanatorium-Resort Treatment of the Population will continue to fulfill the tasks of achieving the planned volumes of health resort treatment and health improvement of the region's population this year.
