Culinary and confectionery arts competition for chefs and confectioners of health resorts and health centers
05-December-2025

On December 3, 2025, an open regional culinary and confectionery arts competition was held at the Alfa Radon sanatorium (TORVLAD LLC). Teams of chefs and confectioners from health resorts and health centers competed.

The competition was organized by the Department of Trade and Services of the Grodno Regional Executive Committee, Belagrozdravnitsa OJSC, the Alfa Radon sanatorium (TORVLAD LLC), and Primemilk LLC (Shchuchin). The theme of the competition was the popularization of national Belarusian traditions and the preparation of products using import-substituting ingredients. Olga Karachun, Head of the Department of Trade and Services of the Grodno Regional Executive Committee, welcomed the participants and guests.
"The goal of the competition is to create not just a competition, but a favorable environment for sharing experiences and the opportunity to prepare favorite dishes in a new way." Participants were also invited to learn about products manufactured in the Grodno Region as part of the import substitution program.
Viktor Ponomarev, CEO of Belagrozdravnitsa OJSC, noted the importance of a balanced diet not only for sanatorium guests but also for all Belarusian residents, and wished good luck to all competition participants.

The contestants' work was evaluated by an expert committee headed by Olga Matsikova, Vice-Rector for Ideological and Educational Work at the Belarusian State University of Food and Chemical Technologies, PhD in Engineering, and chief expert in the Culinary Arts competency of the «ProfskillsBelarus» national professional skills competition.

The contestants presented their culinary creations in four categories: "Dishes and Culinary Products, Bakery Products," "Cold Dishes and Appetizers," "Sweets and Desserts," and "Confectionery." One of the important conditions of the competition was the inclusion of the prepared dishes in the resort's menu. The chefs and their teams demonstrated themselves not only as skilled artisans, capable of preparing and presenting dishes beautifully, but also as creative, extraordinary individuals. The jury and guests had the opportunity to enjoy each performance, accompanied by music, songs, costumed performances, and original solutions. The core of the program was the culinary inventions themselves, supported by professional justification for the recipes and selection of ingredients.
Following the competition program, the Alfa Radon resort restaurant hosted master classes from professionals on preparing traditional and other national dishes. The culinary festival concluded with a summing up of the results and an awards ceremony for the winners.

All participating teams were awarded diplomas from the regional culinary and confectionery arts competition in the category "For professionalism in the development of recipes and technologies, the unique taste of desserts, and the originality of presentation and design," along with cash certificates from sponsors. Olga Chapelava (Alfa-Radon sanatorium) was recognized as the best pastry chef, and Artem Batura (Yunost sanatorium) was recognized as the best cook.
