A single information day in the Lepel district of the Vitebsk region
17-February-2026
The main topic of the Single Information Day was discussed at the Lepel District Museum of Local History, where representatives from several organizations gathered: the Lepel branch of the regional consumer society, the LODE boarding house, the Zhemchuzhina children's health and recreation center, and the Lepel military sanatorium.
The main speaker at the meeting was Henadzi Balbatouski, Director of the Republican Center for Health Improvement and Sanatorium-Resort Treatment of the Population.
Also participating in the discussion were Mikhail Kiselevich, Head of the Lepel District; Veronika Khombak, Deputy Chair of the District Executive Committee; Svetlana Sheveleva, Head of the Department of Ideological Work and Youth Affairs of the District Executive Committee; and Halina Bachuk, Deputy Head of the Vitebsk Regional Office of the Republican Center for Health Improvement and Sanatorium-Resort Treatment of the Population. The Social and Economic Development Program of the Republic of Belarus for 2026-2030 defines seven five-year priorities. The first priority is national demographic security, that is, preserving the population, strengthening the nation's health, and supporting families. The seventh is realizing the tourism potential. These priorities will be realized, among other things, through the successful operation of health resorts.
Representatives of the Republican Center for Health Improvement and Sanatorium-Resort Treatment of the Population were deeply impressed by the unique heritage of the Lepel region, preserved in the local history museum.

Henadzi Balbatouski then visited the Lepel Military Sanatorium, where he inspected the renovation progress in detail, saw the renovated rooms, the modern dining hall, and the leisure space in the club. He discussed not only the ongoing renovations with Pavel Tsykun, the sanatorium's director, but also strategic plans for the facility's development, attracting new guests, and improving the quality of services.

Then, at the Zhemchuzhina Children's and Health Center, Director Natalia Kalinina introduced the new salt chamber, a room approximately 60 cubic meters in size, with walls, ceiling, and floor coated with salt. A special microclimate, similar in properties to real salt caves, is created using specialized equipment that regulates humidity, temperature, and the saturation of the air with salt ions. Up to 15 people can be in the Zhemchuzhina salt cave at a time. Relaxing music can enhance the healing effect of the patients. The center emphasizes preventative and non-drug treatment, which is especially important today.
