Sanatorium-resort treatment and health improvement for children living in the Brest region in 2026

12-Mar-2026

Children's health is a priority in the Republic of Belarus. One form of social assistance for improving children's health is subsidized spa treatment and wellness. Thanks to the state's socially oriented policy, children have the right to free spa treatment if medically indicated.

Belarusian health resorts, which treat both children and their accompanying legal guardians, are located in areas with unique natural resources.

Spa treatment for children is carried out using modern methods. The resorts are equipped with modern medical equipment, allowing for not only treatment but also diagnosis of diseases in children.

Children's sanatoriums offer year-round health improvement and the basic curriculum.

To ensure the fullest possible coverage of children in need of spa treatment, meticulous organizational work is being carried out in the region. Cities and districts are studying the needs of children by disease profile and the demand for subsidized spa treatment.

For example, in 2026, it is planned to provide health treatment to over 11,000 children in the Brest Region at health resorts in the Republic of Belarus, including 474 children with disabilities and 7,400 children living and studying in radionuclide-contaminated areas of the region.

Furthermore, special attention is being paid to organizing children's health camps (hereinafter referred to as camps) during the school holidays. The Brest Regional Executive Committee, as well as the city and district executive committees, annually pass resolutions instructing all relevant agencies to ensure the high-quality organization of the summer health campaign, and working groups are established to oversee the safety and quality of camp services. In 2026, 93,500 children are expected to receive recreational activities in camps during the school holidays, including 63,700 children during the summer.

During the summer, 23 stationary health camps with a capacity of 3,748 beds per shift are planned to operate. It should be noted that in 2026, a 15-day stationary camp with a capacity of 192 beds per shift and a 12-day tent camp with a capacity of 108 beds per shift will be established at the Republican Educational and Health Center for Patriotic Education of Children and Youth.

Preparation work for the region's country camps is currently underway. Major renovations are planned for the Brest Health Camp "Salut," located in the Kobrin District, and the Sputnik Stationary Health Camp, located in the Luninets District. A sports ground is planned for the Zvezdochka Health Camp, part of the Baranovichi City Executive Committee's Education Department. Major renovations to the building facades will continue at the Electron Educational and Health Camp, a branch of the Baranovichi Electric Networks branch of Brestenergo.

Children's health improvement (in sanatoriums and camps) strengthens the immune system, reduces the incidence of colds, and improves the functioning of all body systems. Treatments at health resorts, fresh air, and a balanced diet promote normal sleep, improve concentration, overall energy, and emotional well-being.
